Yamaha has stepped into India’s electric two-wheeler market with its new EC-06 scooter, priced at ₹1.67 lakh (ex-showroom). The model offers a certified range of 169 km on a single charge, putting it among the top options for city commuters looking for longer rides between charges.
The Yamaha EC-06 electric scooter comes with a 4 kWh battery pack that powers a 6.7 kW motor. This setup delivers 26 Nm of torque, helping riders navigate traffic smoothly while hitting a top speed of 79 km/h. Charging takes about 8 hours using a standard home outlet, and Yamaha covers the battery with a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty for added peace of mind.
Riders get three modes to choose from – Eco for maximum range, Standard for balanced performance, and Power for quicker acceleration. A handy Reverse Mode makes parking in tight spots easier. Safety features include disc brakes on both wheels with CBS (Combi Brake System) and suspension tuned for India’s bumpy roads.

Yamaha didn’t skimp on tech either. The EC-06 sports a color LCD display showing battery levels, range, and ride mode. It connects to smartphones via the Yamaha Motor Connect R app for trip tracking and alerts. Practical touches include 24.5 liters of underseat storage – enough space for a helmet and small bags – plus full LED lighting for better visibility.
Available initially through Yamaha’s premium Blue Square showrooms in select cities, the EC-06 marks Yamaha’s first serious move into India’s electric scooter segment. The company says it aligns with government goals for cleaner mobility and aims to expand availability as EV infrastructure improves.
This launch heats up competition in India’s fast-growing electric two-wheeler space, where rivals range from affordable options to premium models. With its blend of range, features, and Yamaha’s brand reputation, the EC-06 gives eco-conscious buyers a new choice for daily commutes.
